What is the International Health and Safety Passport (IHSP)?
The International Health and Safety Passport (IHSP) was developed from the CCNSG (Client Contractor National Safety Group) Safety Passport, which is the UK’s engineering construction industry safety card.
The IHSP is an international version of the CCNSG course, with successful candidates being issued a photographic passport. This evidences their ability to work safely on sites across a multitude of industry sectors.
The IHSP is classroom based and courses include:
- Foundation (e-IHSP also available)
- Advanced
- Supervisor
In February 2022, the ECITB also launched a fully online version of the Foundation IHSP to give customers greater choice and flexibility on how and when they access health and safety training.
The e-IHSP course content is the same as the face-to-face version and includes a fully proctored end-of-course assessment. The e-IHSP is accessible on any device and the course is run by quality-assured training providers licensed by ECITB Global.
In addition to the passport courses, the ECITB also provides one-day health and safety courses in:
- Risk assessment
- Environmental awareness
- Working at height
IHSP course content includes:
- Safe behaviours at work
- Risk assessments
- Hierarchy of control
- Manual handling
- Use of work equipment regulations
- Working at height
- Confined spaces
- Lifting operations
- Site transport
- Signage
- Excavations
- Electric isolation
- Environmental concerns
- Reporting of injuries and dangerous occurrences
